About this video

Transitioning from seat belt control to an arm-in guillotine when the opponent is difficult to finish:

  1. Start by controlling the opponent with a seat belt grip and attempt to set up a Kimura or omoplata.
  2. If these submissions are not available, loop your arm over the opponent's head and slide your knee under their head to elevate them.
  3. Push the opponent's face towards your knee to elicit a postural reaction.
  4. As the opponent reacts, step into their half guard, maintaining a squat position to avoid a full mount and potential leg attacks.
  5. If you fall back, you will still be in the seat belt position, allowing for a transition to the back.
  6. When the opponent tries to escape, it creates an opportunity to capture their arm and set up the guillotine.
  7. Step between the opponent's legs, with your knee under their head, and switch to an inverted palm-to-palm grip.
  8. Drop into a squat on the opponent, which tightens the grip and can lead to a quick finish.
  9. Be aware of the dangers of decapitations and reverse strangles, and practice these movements to prevent them from happening to you.
  10. By sitting on the opponent in the guard, you can force their back to the mat and strangle their neck effectively.
  11. Use the top arm to pull the opponent's arm up, assisting in sitting them up into position for the guillotine.
  12. Convert to the arm-in guillotine grip, squat into the opponent sideways, and be mindful of potential leg attacks if you lose control of the head.

Controlling the opponent's wrist without using the thumb allows for better retraction, and gripping your own wrist while using your chin and knee to position the opponent's head sets up the arm-in guillotine effectively.
