About this video
Executing the Renzo Gracie OG arm-in guillotine from closed guard involves a unique grip that engages both the chest and back for a more effective submission. The technique is as follows:
- Start by recognizing the opponent's attempt to square up in your closed guard, which neutralizes your angles.
- Bridge your hips up and guide your opponent's hands upwards, then quickly shoot your body at a 45-degree angle over their shoulder.
- Trap the opponent's wrist with your left hand, causing them to counterbalance and bring their head into guillotine range.
- Simultaneously threaten with a Kimura grip to keep the opponent low and focused on defending multiple attacks.
- Retract your bicep and use a thumbs-down technique to ensure a tight fit around the opponent's neck.
- Open your guard briefly to spin into the guillotine trap, keeping the opponent's head on the floor as a fulcrum.
- Move your forearm in to make a strong hand connection for the inverted palm-to-palm grip.
- Instead of leaning back, rotate your chest towards the opponent's head to tighten the choke and force a quick submission.
This approach not only secures the guillotine but also creates a dual threat with the potential for a Kimura, making it difficult for the opponent to defend effectively.
