His existing takedown and top pressure skills formed a natural platform, and under Pablo Popovitch's guidance, he developed a well-rounded submission grappling game to complement them. That dedication was formally recognized on November 4th, 2009, when he received his black belt. Throughout his development, Brasco trained with multiple teams including Fight Sports and the Avengers, broadening his technical exposure and competitive preparation.

When Pablo Popovitch departed the United States in 2014, Brasco responded by forging a new training relationship with the Moncaio brothers, continuing to refine his game at the highest level. This period also saw him take on a coaching role at Palm Beach Boxing, where he served as a grappling coach and passed his knowledge on to the next generation of competitors.

Rise to Prominence

Brasco's no-gi grappling career positioned him among the top American competitors in the heavyweight divisions throughout the late 2000s and into the 2010s. His first major breakthrough came in 2006, when he won the ADCC North American Trials, earning the right to represent the region on grappling's biggest stage. That same year, he captured NAGA Nationals gold — a title he repeated in 2007 — demonstrating consistent dominance at the domestic level.

ADCC and IBJJF Results

At the 2011 ADCC World Championship held in Nottingham, England, Brasco competed in the 99kg division, having reached the finals of the North American Trials on multiple occasions in the lead-up to that appearance. His IBJJF no-gi results during this period further reinforced his credentials: a third-place finish at the IBJJF No-Gi World Championship in both 2009 and 2011, a Pan Championship No-Gi title in 2010, and a Grapplers Quest Absolute gold medal in 2013.

Conviction Over Competition

Not all of Brasco's competitive decisions were driven by athletic considerations. When the 2013 ADCC was held in China, he made the deliberate choice to withdraw, citing personal ethical concerns — a decision that underscored the depth of his convictions outside of sport. He later won the ADCC North American Trials again in 2016 and set his sights on the 2017 ADCC World Championship in Helsinki, Finland, training alongside the Moncaio brothers in preparation for a serious run at the event.

Alongside his grappling pursuits, Brasco built a parallel career in mixed martial arts, where his wrestling and BJJ background gave him a formidable foundation. In 2010, he captured a Global Cage Fighting title, marking a significant milestone in his MMA journey. His competitive career in the cage, however, was repeatedly disrupted by cancelled fights and injuries — setbacks that prevented him from building the sustained momentum his skills might otherwise have produced.
