About this video
Reflecting on the initial experience with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the practitioner recalls feeling out of place and uncoordinated during the first class. Accustomed to Japanese Jiu-Jitsu, which involved more standing techniques and striking, the transition to the ground-based Brazilian style was challenging. Despite the initial struggles with basic warm-up exercises like forward rolls, backward rolls, and shrimping, the practitioner's father saw potential in the discipline and encouraged continued participation. Over time, with perseverance, the practitioner began to improve and gain proficiency in the sport, even though it took about a year to feel slightly adept, as even the smallest kids in the class were initially outperforming them.
