About this video

Safety zones are conceptual areas within jiu-jitsu where a practitioner feels secure, in control, and able to transition to offensive moves without immediate threat from the opponent. These zones are not physical spaces but rather positions where one can catch their breath and maintain contact with the opponent while preventing them from launching severe attacks.

One example of a safety zone is the headquarters position in gi jiu-jitsu. This position allows for a controlled pace, assessment of the opponent's potential offensive actions, and understanding of where to transition next. It's a position where the practitioner knows their sequences and feels at ease with their control over the match.
