About this video
Nordic exercises are beneficial for the knee, particularly in preventing ACL injuries. This is because the hamstrings serve as a check or aid in preventing these injuries.
- The articulation of the ACL occurs underneath the kneecap and goes out and back toward the outside. It prevents the tibia from translating forward.
- The strength of the hamstrings also helps keep the tibia from translating forward, thus aiding in the prevention of ACL injuries.
- Nordic exercises are a great hamstring exercise in terms of reducing ACL injuries. However, there are other hamstring exercises that can be done.
- Nordic exercises are challenging and considered one of the harder hamstring exercises. They require supporting your entire body weight through a full range of motion in a closed chain, with your body fixed at a certain point.
- Being able to perform a Nordic exercise is indicative of strong hamstrings and a sturdy knee.
