Inseong Jang's path to Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt is grounded in a lifelong commitment to martial arts that began at 15, when he first stepped onto the mats to study Hapkido. Rather than treating that foundation as a mere stepping stone, Jang pursued the discipline with genuine intellectual rigor — eventually earning a university degree in martial arts, a choice that reflects the academic seriousness he brought to every system he studied.

Over the course of his career, Jang earned black belts in four distinct disciplines: judo, hapkido, taekwondo, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
