2020 IBJJF World Master Championship

Did you know?

• ▸ The 2020 IBJJF World Master Championship ran December 17 through 21 at the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, FL, the 9th edition of the World Master bracket for competitors aged 30 and above.
• ▸ Across 102 recorded matchups, points decided the most outcomes with 48, ahead of 24 by submission and 16 by decision. That is a submission rate of 24 percent, so most of these Master brackets came down to scoring rather than finishing.
• ▸ Of the recorded submissions, the armbar led the way with 9, well clear of chokes at 3. If you train the Master divisions, the armbar is still the finish to have sharp.
• ▸ Josh Hinger and Italo Lins both went 4 wins on record at the event, but they got there differently. Hinger had 2 submission wins while Lins recorded 0, taking his 4 by other means.
• ▸ In the Master 2 final Josh Hinger beat Rafael Formiga Barbosa by points, scoring 7 points and 2 advantages while Barbosa put up nothing on the board.
