Jaqueline Amorim was born on June 24, 1995, in Manaus, the state capital of Amazonas, Brazil — a city better known for the Amazon rainforest than for world-class martial arts, yet one that has quietly produced competitive grapplers of note. Her introduction to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu came through family: her father, a jiu-jitsu practitioner himself, enrolled her in a BJJ program at the age of six, laying the foundation for what would become a lifelong competitive pursuit.

Amorim built her foundational skills at A.S.L.E., a prominent Brazilian jiu-jitsu academy. Beginning training at such a young age allowed her to absorb the sport's technical nuances during critical developmental years. As she entered her teens, she expanded her grappling base by taking up freestyle wrestling — a discipline whose emphasis on takedowns and top pressure complemented jiu-jitsu's ground-based intricacies, producing a well-rounded and versatile competitive game.

Blue and Purple Belt Dominance

Amorim's ascent through the belt ranks was defined by rare consistency at the sport's most prestigious stages. At the blue belt juvenile level, she claimed gold at the CBJJ Brazilian Nationals in 2012 — an early signal of her ability to perform under national-level pressure.

Her purple belt years proved even more prolific. In 2013, Amorim captured the IBJJF World Championship title in the gi, a landmark achievement that announced her as one of the most dangerous colored belt competitors in her weight class. That same season, she added the IBJJF World No-Gi Championship to her résumé — a remarkable double that demonstrated her effectiveness across both rulesets.

A Year of Near-Total Dominance

Rather than slowing down, Amorim elevated her campaign in 2014. She returned to the IBJJF World Championship and defended her gi world title, then followed with another IBJJF World No-Gi Championship and a gold medal at the UAEJJF Abu Dhabi World Pro — one of the most competitive invitationals on the international circuit. It was a year of near-total dominance at the colored belt level.

Brown Belt and the Black Belt Milestone

Also in 2014, Amorim made a pivotal team decision, joining Mestre Pina's program, where she would be guided through the final stages of her belt progression. Under that mentorship, she earned her brown belt and returned to the IBJJF World Championship podium in 2015 with a third-place finish. On July 13, 2015, she received her black belt from Faustino Neto, formalizing years of competitive achievement and technical refinement into the sport's highest rank.

Joining Checkmat and Transitioning to the Elite Level

Upon reaching black belt, Amorim aligned herself with Checkmat, one of the most decorated and internationally recognized organizations in competitive Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The move placed her within a team infrastructure built to support world-level athletes and gave her the platform needed for the next chapter of her career.

Her black belt debut on the major circuit wasted no time producing results. In 2016, Amorim earned a silver medal at the IBJJF World No-Gi Championship, confirming that her technical grappling translated seamlessly to the sport's highest tier. That same year, in August 2016, she relocated to the Charleston area of the United States alongside her husband, Windson Ramos, with the goal of pursuing her career on a full-time basis. The move also marked a shift in competitive representation, as she began competing internationally on behalf of the United States while retaining her Brazilian roots and identity.

Establishing Herself Among the Elite

Amorim competes in the featherweight division — classified as Peso Pena at 58.50 kg / 129.0 lbs — a weight class defined by technical precision and athleticism, attributes that align naturally with her grappling background. Her 2017 season reinforced her standing as a reliable black belt contender, producing podium finishes at both the IBJJF World Championship and the IBJJF Pan American Championship, each with a third-place result. In 2018, she climbed one step higher at the Pan American Championship with a silver medal, confirming her sustained presence among the top competitors in her division on the international IBJJF circuit.
