Fabrício Camões was born on December 23, 1978, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and grew up in the Méier neighborhood — a community defined by deep cultural roots and a strong sporting tradition. His grandfather, a former international football player, planted an early love of athletics in the family, and that influence took firm hold in young Fabrício. He began judo at age 8, building a grappling foundation that would prove invaluable throughout his career, and later expanded his martial arts background to include taekwondo and muay Thai.

The turn toward Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu came through family. His cousin, Cristiano Marcello, introduced Fabrício to BJJ, opening the door to a lifelong pursuit. He began training at Gracie Tijuca, an affiliate of Gracie Humaitá, where he developed under the guidance of Arthur Cartier, Marcelo Machado, Vinícius Aieta, and Saulo Ribeiro. Each instructor brought a distinct dimension to his game, collectively shaping the well-rounded technical and competitive athlete he would become.

Along the way, Fabrício earned the nickname "Morango" — Portuguese for Strawberry — a lighthearted label that stuck after his well-known love of strawberry-flavored ice cream became apparent around age 12. On December 23, 2001 — his birthday — Fabrício received his black belt directly from Royler Gracie, one of the most respected figures in the history of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The date carried unmistakable symbolism: it marked both a personal milestone and a formal entry into the upper tier of the Gracie Humaitá lineage, cementing his place in one of the art's most storied families.

His competitive record confirmed that technical development translated directly into results. He captured the Copa Cyclone championship in 2001 — the same year he earned his black belt — and followed with a 3rd place finish at the CBJJ Brazilian National Championship in 2003. His competitive fire extended well into his masters years: competing in the Master 2 division, he claimed IBJJF World No-Gi Championship gold in both 2015 and 2016, and added an IBJJF World Masters Championship runner-up finish in 2016 alongside a 3rd place finish at the same event in 2015. Fabrício and Letícia Ribeiro developed a kids BJJ curriculum that earned national recognition for its emphasis on fundamentals, discipline, and character development.
