His uncle, Amilton Brites, served as the pivotal figure who introduced both Ailson and his brother Admilson Brites to the sport, bringing them to the historic Academia Serrana — a decision that would prove transformative for both brothers.

At Academia Serrana, Ailson began his formal training under instructor Elias Martins, progressing through the kids program and earning his green belt. The environment carried a profound personal dimension: grandmaster Geny Rebello, who presided over the academy, was his uncle, and Cirillo Azevedo, another formative influence in his development, was his cousin.
