100 Kilos
Position
Also known as:
Cem Quilos
100 Kilos is a heavy variation of side control where the top player maximizes pressure by driving their hips low and chest weight diagonally across the bottom player's torso. It is used to immobilize the opponent, drain their energy, and set up submissions or transitions.
Quick Reference
Key principles
- · Drive your hips to the mat on the far side, removing all space between your body and theirs.
- · Angle your body slightly toward their hips so your chest crosses their sternum diagonally, concentrating weight on their diaphragm.
- · Keep your head low and tight near their far hip to prevent framing and maximize downward pressure.
- · Use a crossface or underhook to control their head and near-side arm, eliminating their ability to create frames.
- · Anticipate hip escapes by sprawling your legs wide and driving your hips back into them when they shrimp.
Execution
- 1 From standard side control, slide your hips down toward the mat on the far side of your opponent while maintaining chest-to-chest contact.
- 2 Walk your feet away and sprawl your legs out to widen your base and eliminate any space under your hips.
- 3 Apply a strong crossface with your near arm while your far arm controls their near-side hip or underhooks their arm.
- 4 Drop your head low toward their far hip, angling your torso diagonally across their chest to focus maximum weight on their breathing.
- 5 Maintain constant hip pressure and adjust your position reactively when they attempt escapes, resettling your weight each time.
Common mistakes
- × Keeping hips elevated off the mat reduces pressure dramatically and gives the bottom player space to insert frames or shrimp out.
- × Staying perpendicular instead of angling diagonally across the body spreads weight too evenly and allows the opponent to breathe and recover.
- × Relying only on upper body grips without sprawling the legs wide, making it easy for the bottom player to bump and create escape angles.
