Davi Vetoraci

Davi Vetoraci's path in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is inseparable from the family environment that shaped him from the earliest age. Born in January 2000 in Brazil, Davi and his twin brother Matheus Vetoraci began training jiu-jitsu as toddlers, introduced to the art by their father, Leonel Menezes, and their cousin, Alexandre Carrera. This family-driven foundation gave the brothers not only technical guidance but a deeply personal connection to the sport — one in which lineage and legacy were woven into every session on the mats.

Both Davi and Matheus progressed through the belt system under the direct supervision of their father and cousin, making their development a uniquely intimate journey. Training within a family structure where trust and high standards coexisted allowed the twins to develop at a pace and depth that reflected both their natural aptitude and the unwavering investment of those closest to them.

In October 2021, Davi reached a defining milestone when Alexandre Carrera and Leonel Menezes — the same two figures who had guided him from childhood — promoted him to black belt. The ceremony marked the formal culmination of a journey built on family dedication and years of consistent, purposeful training.

Shortly after receiving his black belt, Davi and Matheus relocated from Brazil to Portugal, settling in Porto by the end of 2021. The move represented a decisive shift — from a grassroots, family-centered background to the pursuit of a full-time professional athletic career on the international stage. In Porto, Davi joined Focus, a squad led by coach Manoel Neto, fulfilling a long-held ambition to compete and earn a living as a professional grappler.

Established within the Focus structure in Porto, Davi Vetoraci competes in the Meio Pesado division at 88.30 kg (195.0 lbs), representing Portugal internationally despite his Brazilian origins. His trajectory on the European circuit reflects steady, measurable progression: a bronze medal at the IBJJF European Championship in 2024 was followed by a gold medal in the Medium-Heavyweight division at the 2025 IBJJF European Championship, demonstrating the consistency and competitive growth that define his approach.

Alongside his competitive career, Davi coaches within the Focus academy, contributing to athlete development in his adopted home country. He and his brother Matheus share the nickname Gêmeos — Portuguese for twins — a moniker that captures both their bond and their joint presence within the European BJJ community. The twin identity has become a recognizable element of their shared story, one that began on a family mat in Brazil and continues to unfold on the international circuit.
