Yacinta Nguyen-Huu was born on March 16, 1991, in Mississauga, Canada, into a household where martial arts were woven into daily life. The daughter of a Vietnamese father and a Belgian mother of Latvian descent, she grew up in a family shaped by judo — her father was a judoka himself, and the sport served as a shared language across generations. Introduced to judo at the age of six, Yacinta spent her childhood on the mats, developing the foundational movement, discipline, and competitive instincts that would later define her Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu career.
By the age of 13, she had graduated from casual participation to serious competition, committing to judo with the focus of an athlete who understood the demands of the international stage. That dedication eventually carried her to Montreal, where she pursued her university education while training alongside the Canadian National Judo Team — an environment that sharpened her competitive edge and placed her among Canada's elite judoka.
Junior National Champion and World Championship Contender
In 2010, Yacinta's judo career reached its early peak. She claimed the Canadian Judo Junior National Championship, won the Pan-American Junior Championship, and represented Canada at the Junior World Championships in Agadir, Morocco — a remarkable achievement for a teenager and a clear measure of the quality of her athletic development.
