Years of cross-continental dedication eventually led Rice to relocate permanently to Los Angeles, deepening his integration into the Rickson Gracie Academy community. His commitment was formally recognized in November 2006, when Rickson Gracie awarded him the black belt — a milestone that made Rice the first Canadian-born practitioner ever to receive that rank under the legendary master.
