Kamezawa's belt progression unfolded across two countries and several highly respected academies, giving him a breadth of technical exposure rare among competitors of his generation. He began his formal BJJ training in Japan under Cristiano Kaminishi with the Purebred team, building disciplined technical foundations from the ground up. Under Mario Reis, he advanced from white to purple belt, each promotion reflecting both his rapid development and his commitment to the craft.
The Brazil Chapter: TT Academy and Alliance
A defining period in his growth came when Kamezawa relocated to Brazil to train at the TT Academy under Fernando Terere, a coach whose dynamic and creative Jiu-Jitsu left a lasting imprint on his game. When TT eventually closed, he transitioned to the Alliance team, aligning himself with one of the most decorated organizations in the sport's history.
Return to Japan and the Brown Belt
Returning to Japan, Kamezawa continued his development under Mauricio Dai of the Bon-Sai team. It was Dai who awarded him his brown belt — a promotion that honored the intercontinental commitment Kamezawa had invested in his craft. The resulting game, forged across academies in both Brazil and Japan under coaches of distinct philosophies, produced a well-rounded competitor equipped for the highest levels of competition.
