Mounted Dead Orchard
Submission
The dead orchard is 10th Planet's figure-four leg control locked behind the opponent's shoulder (created by Nathan Orchard) — shaped like a triangle with both arms in, one shoulder trapped. The mounted version enters from S-mount and finishes with armbars, kimuras, and wristlocks from the locked position.
Quick Reference
Key principles
- · The figure-four behind the shoulder isolates the whole arm-shoulder unit
- · Both-arms-in triangle shape trades the choke for total upper-body control
- · Lock the position fully before choosing a finish
Execution
- 1 From S-mount, isolate the near arm and shoulder
- 2 Figure-four your legs behind the opponent's shoulder
- 3 Settle the position so both of their arms are trapped inside
- 4 Select the finish: short armbar, kimura, or wristlock
Common mistakes
- × Attacking submissions before the figure-four is fully locked
- × Letting the trapped shoulder slip free during the transition from mount
