Key principles

• · The grip is the innovation: both hands lace to the very end of the foot — no figure-four — which lengthens the lever and multiplies the cranking force.
• · Reverse closed guard supplies the entanglement: your closed legs around their leg keep the knee bent and the hip pinned while the foot is attacked.
• · The leg must stay folded; a straightened leg converts the crank into a weaker toe-hold-like pull they can spin out of.
• · Rotational pressure aims the toes toward their glutes and rolls the ankle past its range — apply gradually, since the laced grip breaks feet quickly.

Execution

1. 1 Establish reverse closed guard on one leg, keeping their knee folded and hip line controlled.
2. 2 Lace both hands over the end of their foot, stacking the grips at the toes rather than building a figure-four.
3. 3 Fold their leg further to remove slack through the knee.
4. 4 Rotate the foot toward their glutes with both hands while your guard fixes the leg in place.
5. 5 Apply in small increments to the tap — the leverage of the laced grip leaves little margin.
