Around the age of 20, he relocated to Arizona with his girlfriend — later his wife — to pursue his education. While at Bally's Total Fitness in Arizona, he noticed Demetrius Ramos teaching a class that featured grappling exchanges reminiscent of what he had seen in MMA on television. Beauregard took to Brazilian jiu-jitsu immediately, drawn as much by Coach Ramos' teaching philosophy and positive energy as by the art itself. Around the time Beauregard earned his purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, he identified a gap in his game and moved to address it with characteristic thoroughness.
