Saporito's transition from student to instructor at the Carlson Gracie Academy in Copacabana began when Alberto Santos invited him to start teaching at the academy. Recognizing his qualities as a coach, Carlson Gracie formally appointed Saporito as a full-time assistant instructor, entrusting him with shaping the next generation of fighters under the Carlson Gracie banner.
Saporito rose to the position of head coach and has since guided the historic Copacabana academy to extraordinary collective success. Under his leadership, the team accumulated over 200 team titles, cementing the Carlson Gracie Academy in Copacabana as one of the most decorated and enduring institutions in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. His ability to develop elite competitors across multiple generations reflects both deep technical knowledge and a rare capacity for long-term mentorship.
The caliber of black belts Saporito has produced further underscores the strength of the program he built. Among his notable graduates are Daniel Christoph, Luis Sergio de Morais Barros, Patricia Hing, Gustavo Granha, Alan Moraes, Orlando Cunha, Wilham Cavalcante, Wilson Borges, and Fabio Novaes — a group whose collective achievements across competition and instruction speak directly to the depth and quality of Saporito's coaching legacy.
