Blue and Purple Belt Breakthroughs
Martin built one of the more consistent pre-black belt records in women's BJJ competition during the 2010s, with her most significant results validated at the sport's highest-profile events. Her arrival as an elite competitor was announced at the IBJJF World Championship level with a silver medal at the 2013 IBJJF World Championship at blue belt — a result that placed her among the top athletes in the world at that stage of her development.
The following year brought confirmation of that potential. Martin captured gold at the 2014 IBJJF World Championship at purple belt, a verified major title that established her as one of the foremost competitors in her weight class. She continued to expand her record through the purple belt years, adding gold medals at IBJJF regional events in Chicago and accumulating results at the UAEJJF Abu Dhabi Pro Trials in 2013 — demonstrating range across competition organizations.
Brown Belt Dominance and the Road to Black Belt
Martin's brown belt campaign proved equally productive. She claimed the 2016 IBJJF Pan American Championship title — a confirmed result that reflected the consistency she maintained across belt levels — and returned to the Pan American Championship final in 2017. Regional success continued through this period with gold medals at the San Antonio Winter Open in 2016 and the San Antonio Fall Open in 2017.
The arc of her brown belt career reached its peak with gold at the 2017 IBJJF World Championship, the title that directly preceded her promotion to black belt. Throughout her competitive career, Martin competed in the Peso Pluma division at 53.50 kg / 118.0 lbs.
