In 2017, Murovanni returned to martial arts, drawn by the world of MMA and cage fighting. Upon joining an MMA club, he encountered persistent difficulty with ground-based techniques — a challenge that became the catalyst for a focused pursuit of jiu-jitsu. He joined the club run by Robert Graalfs, who would guide him through every rank from white belt onward.
Early Competitive Results
Murovanni's development translated quickly to the competition mat. In 2019, competing at blue belt, he claimed gold at Grappling Industries Amsterdam and the IBJJF Polish Open in the gi, while also winning the AGF Berlin advanced division in no-gi. These performances reflected a rapid rise for an athlete who had entered the sport with little background in ground fighting.
Earning the Black Belt
After years of disciplined training under Robert Graalfs, Murovanni earned his black belt in November 2024 — completing a journey that began from a position of near-total unfamiliarity with grappling. He represents Germany internationally, the country where he was raised and built his athletic identity, despite his Ukrainian birth.
