Jim was a dedicated Judoka who founded a Judo club in Bakersfield and ran sessions six days per week for both David and his brother Dan Camarillo. The occasion carried additional weight: on the same day Camarillo received his 5th degree, he promoted Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg to blue belt under the Guerrilla Jiu Jitsu banner. Camarillo had served as Zuckerberg's personal BJJ coach and was credited with rapidly accelerating his technical development. Zuckerberg publicly acknowledged that Camarillo had taught him "so much about fighting and life" — a statement that speaks to the depth of a coaching relationship that extended well beyond mat technique.

Camarillo has also applied the Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu system in high-stakes operational contexts, training U.S. special operations forces in military combatives where practical, adaptable grappling carries real-world consequences. Joining the Production

Following the pandemic, David Camarillo relocated to Los Angeles to join the production of John Wick: Chapter 4 as a core member of the film's stunt and fight choreography team. The project demanded a 14-month commitment, and Camarillo described the experience as "the hardest thing I've ever done in my life" — a striking statement from someone whose career spans elite competitive grappling, military training, and high-performance MMA coaching.

Training Keanu Reeves

On the production, Camarillo served as one of Keanu Reeves' primary fight trainers, directly shaping the film's combat sequences through applied martial arts expertise.
