In 1999, Carmona captured the Brazilian Judo National Championship title, then followed with an International Judo Championship victory in Bergamo, Italy — achievements that arrived before his BJJ career had fully taken shape. In 2001, competing at blue belt, he reached the final of the IBJJF World Championship — an early signal of the elite potential he was developing. His 2015 campaign proved especially productive: he claimed the SJJSAF South American Championship title, placed third at the IBJJF Brazilian No-Gi Championship in the master division, and added a Favela Kombat MMA championship to his résumé — demonstrating a competitive range that extended well beyond the gi.
