North-South is a dominant top control position where the practitioner lies chest-to-chest on the opponent but facing opposite directions, with their head near the opponent's hips and their hips near the opponent's head. It is typically reached by transitioning from side control or mount and offers strong pinning control with submissions such as the north-south choke, kimura, and various arm attacks.
